Gyles Pauline

Gyles Pauline

Pauline Gyles never received a formal art school training. On leaving school she hand coloured photographic portraits in water colour to resemble paintings. This came to an end with the advent of colour photography.

On going to a portrait class at the local art college in Poole the tutor noted that she was working on a small scale and encouraged her to paint miniatures. She first exhibited with the Royal Miniature Society in 1976, was elected an Associate in 1981 and a full member of the RMS in 1985. Her work may be seen in several London galleries, and locally near her home in Poole, Dorset. Pauline Gyles is a Founder Member of the Society of Botanical Artists, a member of the Hilliard Society, and currently the Honorary Secretary of the Royal Miniature Society.
