d'Auvergne Philippe (1754—1816)

Philip D'Auvergne, also known as 'Prince of Bouillon', was born in St. Helier, Jersey in 1754 and died in London on 18 Sep 1816. He served in the Royal Navy. The participant of Independence war in America. The convinced monarchist, after the French revolution supported any anti-French movements. After English-French peace contracts (1802) has arrived to Paris and has been arrested on charge in espionage. From prison Templ it could be released only owing to help of Talleyrand and has been compelled to leave France urgently. After the beginning of the English-French war (1803) d'Auvergne has generated on Jersey sea squadron, has renewed work of the espionage network to France and support of royalists. Its headquarters was on Jersey in lock Mont-Orgojl. Rendered special support to Cadoudal.
