Gerard Michel pere (1737—1815)

Michel Gérard, acquaintance as him père Gérard, was a French politician. He stood out like a very popular personage from the beginning of the Revolution, known always for taking its suit of Breton peasant (bretons was one of the political groups of the French Revolution). In 1789 he was the only peasant who was chosen like deputy by the third state for the General States. It was delegated also by Rennes in National Convention, reason by which there is applied to him the title of conventionnel. In spite of Chapelier had lined up initially with him, it happened to be identified by the republicans. Collot d'Herbois published in 1792 (or 1791) an Almanach du père Gérard.
