Adamson Amandus Heinrich
(1855—1929)
Amandus Heinrich Adamson was an Estonian sculptor. Born into a seafaring family, Adamson excelled in wood carving as a child. He studied at the St Petersburg Academy of Arts under Alexander Bock between 1876 and 1881. Adamson lived and studied in Paris between 1887 and 1891 and was influenced by the works of Jules Dalou and Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux. The work of Adamson varies in >Estonia, St Petersburg and the Crimea, as well as allegorical figures and portraits.
