Korayem Mohammed
(?—1798)

The former sheikh and one of the richest inhabitants of Alexandria. In October 1798 proofless charge in change has been arrested by the general-governor of Alexandria Cleber. Under an escort it have delivered to Cairo and have suggested to pay the repayment - 300 thousand francs gold. The Korayem has refused to make it and under Bonaparte's order was killed, and its chopped off head have carried by on streets of Cairo with an inscription: "So traitors will be punished all". This execution became one of occasions for revolt on October, 21st 1798.
