Fragments of Russian History

The Catalogue is in a stage of formation.

I have always been interested in history, both world history and Russian history. It is not surprising that another one of my collections is dedicated to the history of Russia.

I have a rather broad view of history. For example, can one imagine a part of a collection dedicated to the Mongol conquest of Rus’ without stamps from modern Mongolia glorifying Genghis Khan? In my opinion it is impossible. For the same reason, I pay attention to foreigners who were in any way connected with the history of Russia: those who worked there, fought against it, or at least visited it and left notes about their visit.

It was difficult to decide on the cutoff point — that is, the date after which historical events become less interesting to me. I thought that stamps (primarily Soviet ones) dedicated to the events of the last third of the 19th century are thoroughly ideologized. The vast majority of them reflect only the activities of Lenin and his party, which does not interest me very much. Therefore, I end my collection and this catalogue with the events of 1858 — the year when the first postage stamp was issued in Russia.
