Kornilov (Êîðíèëîâ) Vladimir Alexeevich (1806—1854)

Naval officer, promoted to the rank of vice-admiral in 1852. He participated in the Russo-Turkish war of 1828-29. In 1849, he was appointed chief of staff, and in 1851, he became chief commander of the Black Sea Navy. During the Crimean War (1853-1856), he was one of the officers in charge of Sevastopol’s defense, where he was killed in action (1854).
