Barstow Stan

Novelist, born in Horbury, West Yorkshire, N England, UK. Raised in a working-class environment, he began work in the engineering industry. He achieved immediate success with his first novel, A Kind of Loving (1960), which was later adapted for film and stage. He was among a number of contemporary writers who depicted the realities of working-class life during the l950s and 1960s. Later novels include A Brother's Tale (1980), Just you Wait and See (1986), Next of Kin (1991), and In My Own Good Time (1996).
