Conan Laure (pen name of Marie-Louise-Félicité Angers)

Laure Conan is regarded as the first true French-Canadian female novelist. Educated by the Ursulines, she wrote eleven books focussed largely on religion, family and her nation, with a particular interest in exploring the minds of her characters. Conan best remembered book is Angéline de Montbrun (1884).
