Apukhtin (Апухтин) Aleksey Nikolayevich
(1840—1893)
Aleksey Apukhtin was a minor Russian poet and writer, prominent figure in St. Petersburg gay milieu of the time. He was a lifelong friend of Pyotr Tchaikovsky (they were both educated at the School of Jurisprudence in St. Petersburg) and a lover of his brother Modest Tchaikovsky. Pyotr Tchaikovsky wrote music for six of his poems.
