Yakovlev (Яковлев) Ivan Yakovlevich
(1848—1930)

In enlightenment of Chuvashes large merit belongs to the inspector of Chuvash schools of the Kazan educational district Ivan Yakovlev, who in 1868 in Simbirsk founded Chuvash teacher's school that trained about 1,000 teachers during the time of its existence. He developed the alphabet and on the basis of the Russian letters created new Chuvash writing.
