Barvinok (Áàðâèíîê) Hanna (pseud of Oleksandra Bilozerska-Kulish)
(1828—1911)
Writer, wife of Panteleimon Kulish. She was born into a landowner's family in the village of Motronivka in Borzna county, Chernihiv gubernia. She began her literary career in 1858 and wrote stories on themes drawn from peasant life, which concentrated on the fate of the peasant woman. These appeared in the almanac «Khata» (Saint-Petersburg) and the journals «Pravda», «Osnova» (Saint-Petersburg), «Literaturno-naukovyi vistnyk», and other journals. Her works were published in the collections «Stories Told by the People» (1902), «Stories» (1919), and «Selected Works» (1927).
