Veresay (Вересай) Ostap Mykytovych
(1803—1890)

Ukrainian blind poet, singer and kobza-player. Ostap Veresay stimulated sympathies concerning Ukrainian hetmanate by his songs and typical appearance. Moreover, a French professor Lui Legge being under the influence of Veresay’s songs started actively to advocate the Ukrainian culture in France even gave courses of the Ukrainian language.
