Aleksander Neverov, real family name Skobelov, was a member of «The Smithy», a proletarian writers group, and fought with the Red Army against Admiral Kolchak. «Tashkent» — it the tale of a village boy who sets out on a long and perilous journey to get food for his ailing mother. The action takes place during the famine of 1921.
