Guéhenno Jean
(1890—1978)

French writer. Born to a working class family, his parents worked in a shoe factory, where he himself worked in his youth. His life turned out to be quite astonishing : an academic, inspector general of public education, novelist, critic, essayist and journalist. He was elected to l’Académie Française. Among some of his many works : "Changer la vie", "Le journal d’un homme de 40 ans", here he speaks openly about the working class of Fougères at the beginning of the century.
